Herbal Cure for Acne

admin | Apr 27, 2010 | Comments 0

Maybe, the most prominent effects of acne to a person are the psychological and inferior complex that they suffer from due to the blackheads, pimples and zits that they have during acne. And acne is not something that occurs only in a particular age or even on a particular part of the body. Acne can appear even in the thirties and forties and on many parts of the body, particularly the hands, legs and forearms.

Acne is mainly caused due to the increase in the hormones like androgen during puberty. These hormones have an effect on the oil glands of the skin, which result in acne.

Acne can get severe and result in other skin conditions. Also, if the acne is just ignored, people may have to opt for surgical treatments which are known to create very visible scars and marks on the skin.

The best bet to have acne no more is to have a healthy lifestyle and diet. Water is one of the most important and necessary weapon in the war against acne. Water acts as a natural flusher of toxins and other harmful chemicals in the body. The ideal scenario is when a person drinks about eight glasses of water per day.

Of course, one of the simplest ways to prevent acne is to wash your face with warm water and soap before and after you go out. Sun tan may have a positive effect on the prevention of acne, but exposure to sunlight for prolonged periods of time will actually increase the amount of pimples and blackheads in your body.

Another popular cure for acne is tea tree oil. It is one of the most commonly used home remedies for acne. Tea tree oil has a generous amount of terpinen-4-ol. This ingredient is the main recipe for the antibacterial activity that the tea tree oil is known for. Since tea tree oil is antibacterial, it is supposed to kill the bacteria on the skin that is responsible for the creation of acne on the skin.

Acne can mostly be cured with over the shelf antibacterial agents. Some of the popular acne treatment creams and lotions are:
1. Azelex
2. Benzaclin
3. Benzamycin
4. Brevoxyl Creamy Wash
5. Cleocin
6. Doxycycline (Monodox)
7. Duac
8. Differin
9. Minocyclin (Minocin)
10. Retin A
11. Retin a Micro
12. Tazorac

There are other home remedies and over the counter available treatments for acne. You should be very careful while opting for a home grown treatment for acne. For one, you should be sure about any allergies you would have before you decide to use a cream, lotion or any other home grown treatment for acne.

Several Things You Need to Consider Before Choosing Laser Acne Treatment

Although teenagers are the ones who suffer most from acne, many adults can suffer from it too. Acne can consist of occasional unwanted outbreaks to chronic severe outbreaks. Along with acne often comes the unwanted side effect of scarring. Acne scars can last a lifetime and for some people, they are cosmetically significant enough to cause a loss of self esteem, psychological stress or even suicide.
Acne Treatment Types:There are a number of treatments for acne on the market today. Some can be purchased over the counter, whereas others require a prescription. This includes topical bactericidals, topical and oral antibiotics, topical and oral retinoids, hormonal treatments and laser treatments. As antibiotics have become increasingly ineffective due to overuse, we are seeing an increase in acne laser treatments.

Acne Laser Treatments:
More and more people are opting for acne laser treatments today to remove acne or acne scarring. People who are considering acne laser treatment, should keep in mind that this sort of treatment really should be considered as a last resort. Treatment of severe acne scars depends on their shape, depth, and location.
During laser resurfacing, a laser pen is held just above the acne or acne scar tissue. A concentrated beam of light is waved back and forth over the area, vaporizing the unwanted tissue and developing a new skin surface for growth. This is where the term laser resurfacing comes from. After the laser treatment, new collagen will form.
Types of Acne Scars:There are a number of different types of acne scars and the type of scar as well as the severity can determine the type of laser treatment required.
Ice pick scars – Deep pits, most common acne scarring.

Box car scars – Angular scars similar to chickenpox scars.

Rolling scars – Scars that give the skin a wave-like appearance.

Hypertrophic scars – Thickened, or keloid scars.
Associated Pain
There is pain involved with acne laser treatments. Some people describe it like a rubber band being “snapped” against the skin. Deep laser treatments can often require anesthesia.
Associated Cost:
The cost of acne laser treatments depends on where you live, if multiple treatments are required and how much work is being done. A full face acne treatment is much more expensive then a treatment involving smaller sections of skin.
What You Can Expect Afterwards:
Make sure you plan for plenty of time off after your procedure. It isn’t unusual for a patient to experience both pain and swelling after an acne laser treatment. This can vary from person to person, but usually lasts for a week to ten days. During this time, the patient should not wear make up.
Doctor Consultation:
If you are considering an acne procedure, you need to do your homework. Talk to a few different doctors; check prices and check patient reviews.
By keeping all of the above tips in mind, you should be able to make a much more informed decision about laser acne treatments. Keep in mind that this doesn’t guarantee your results, but it will increase your chance of a more positive outcome.

Acne Scars Removal Treatment

Acne, the thorn in adolescents’ side leaves behind many consequences. One of the most terrible outcomes of this traumatic skin disorder is acne scar which would always affright you with the unpleasant memories of adolescent acne. Those unsightly blotches often devastate the self-esteem of acne sufferers which many teenagers and adults find hard to rebuild for years. In America 85% of teenagers get affected by acne and 25% of them experience permanent scar. Fortunately nowadays many treatment procedures including acne scar removal creams are available in the global market which helps to wipe off this physical and mental stigma once and for all. We get scar mainly due to the damage of our skin tissue. They are the perceptible upshots of injury and tissue repair after a ravage of acne. In case of acne our skin pores get clogged up with sebum (body oil), dead skin cells, and Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. If left untreated these infected blocked pores sometimes turn into severe form of acne lesions which calls for our natural immune system to intervene with its repair kits. The whole restoration process results in acne scars which tear up our face and other body parts with pocked dents or keloid like growths.
Many acne sufferers who have developed acne scars in the later stage want to avoid the hassles and expenditure of high-cost surgical and other physical techniques. For them acne scar removal creams could prove to be a windfall from medical science. These creams usually contain 4% niacinamide as key ingredient. Niacinamide is the active form of vitamin B3 or niacin. This is found to be quite effective in reducing acne scars caused by hyperpigmentation. This chemical enhances production of skin’s natural moisturizing agents thereby helping to diminish fine lines, red blotches, and irritation caused by the acne scars. The anti-inflammatory property of this medication destroys the bacterial proliferation at the acne sites healing them at a faster rate.
Bioskincare cream compiled with exclusive natural and vital ingredients works like wonder for awful disfigurements. This natural solution induces the production of glycosaminoglycans which enhances the capability of skin to hold back moisture content within itself. This helps to get rid of filthy scars as early as possible reviving a healthy, fresh, and toned skin. Acne scar removal creams are undoubtedly helpful to cure your bad marks, but it would take a long time to achieve the optimum result. It is also true that a cream might not be effective for everyone. It is therefore up to you to find out the right medication for your skin type. It is preferable to consult your doctor before you go for any acne scar removal medication.

Basic Things About Acne

Acne, a very common chronic skin condition, is still somewhat of a mystery as to what the root cause is. Most medical professionals believe that it could be attributed to several factors, one of which is hormone levels.

Recent studies show that certain hormones, known as androgen, may trigger the formation of acne because they enlarge the sebaceous, or oil producing glands in the skin which leads to increased sebum or oil production. This increase leads to the formation of plugs and serves as more food for the acne-causing bacteria.

While these hormones are actually present in both men and women, they usually surge at puberty. This fact also explains why teenagers develop armpit and pubic hair, and why boys develop facial hair and deeper voices, other than why acne forms.

Yet another potent cause of acne is the bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes that normally thrive on the skin. These bacteria are responsible for causing the condition to develop. According to some studies, acne develops as these bacteria emit substances that trigger redness and inflammation. They also make enzymes, which then dissolve the sebum or oil into the irritating substances that make the inflammation worse.

the female hormone estrogen also plays a large role in the development of acne, particularly in girls. It is important to note first that a woman’s monthly menstrual cycle is a result of the changes in the estrogen levels in her body. This can actually explain why this skin condition in a female way get better and then get worse as she goes through her monthly menstrual cycle. One of the beneficial side affects of some birth control pills that contain the helpful estrogen is to help control acne outbreaks.

It is also believed that acne is caused by some genetic factors. Without a doubt it does seem to be worse in some families.

In that respect it is thought that if you have parents or relatives who have bad acne, there is also a great possibility that you too will get it. Considering the genetic factors, many feel that there is no way for you to stop acne outbreaks from occurring.

Other possible causes of acne are stress, cosmetics, medication and diet. These are just minor factors that can cause acne, but many have found that they are aggravators of this skin condition.

Diet & stress don’t really cause acne to form, but these two potentially aggravate acne and cause  another skin problem you may experienced.

Knowing that there is no particular cause of acne, perhaps the best move is to try a few different treatments to see which is best suited to your particular skin type. Always consult your doctor before starting any treatment.

Acne Remedy Products

admin | Apr 17, 2010 | Comments 0

The preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to prevent acne from arising like skin cleansers and makeup removers. Whilst many sufferers use these products there are even more people who just want to keep their skin clean and conditioned.

Some of these products are designed to act like an acne skin care product and act against the causes of this complaint. They work by limiting the production of sebum/oil and prevent clogging of skin pores. These products prevent the oil from getting trapped in pores and can hamper the growth of bacteria, this can lead to the bad skin condition.

This type of skin care treatment also includes those which exfoliate such as skin peels. These can be bought over the counter or on the internet. They work by reducing oil plus other contaminants from the skin and in the pores; this can reduce harmful bacteria and stop their chance of growth.

There is a huge market for these types of acne skin care products as they don’t require a consultation with a dermatologist. These include products like vanishing creams which extract the excess oil from the skin. Most of these are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and hence acne).

Although benzoyl peroxide works well, it is possible you may have a reaction, it is suggested that any benzoyl peroxide skin care product should not contain the active ingredient at more than 5.5 percent. You might have to try a few different creams or lotions before you find the acne skin care product that is effective for you’re skin. If nothing you try seems to work, you should contact a dermatologist.

Only doctors or skin care specialists can prescribe some medications, including the use of antibiotics and certain ointments. Under certain circumstances, having the infected material removed from the pores under a local anesthetic may be suggested by your dermatologist. This is something you should never attempt yourself.

An alternative that has been shown to work well is hormone therapy. Studies have shown that hormones can cause acne and skin care treatments that are hormone based have proved to be effective in many cases. With all the treatments available, tackling acne is not that difficult as there are many new products available to help.

Research Progress in Acne Remedies

If you are one of the many sufferers from Acne, then you already know of the many over the counter options available to you today. However, did you also know that there are a multitude of studies occurring around the world to find better cures for Acne? There are and we highlight two of them here for you. As with anything medically related, consult your physician prior to taking or applying any medication. With any case of Acne, it is best to consult with your Dermatologist.
If you are unsure what a Dermatologist or Dermatology is, we have defined it here for you (with a little help from Wikipedia). Dermatologists are physicians specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in relation to the skin and appendages (hair, sweat glands, etc). Dermatology (from Greek de?µa, “skin”) is a branch of medicine dealing with the skin and its appendages (hair, sweat glands, etc).
A study recently released in the September issue of British Journal of Dermatology (BJD), studied 1045 adolescents aged 13–19 years. The objective was to determine the epidemiology of acne in teenagers in Singapore. According to the study, “Results Of these respondents, 88% identified themselves as having acne. Eight hundred and six of these respondents were examined by a dermatologist, and 51•4% were classified as having mild acne, 40% moderate acne and 8•6% severe acne. Isolation of Propionibacterium acnes was attempted in 262 subjects. Cultures were positive in 174 subjects, giving an isolation rate of 66•4%. Antibiotic-resistant strains of P. acnes were detected in 26 isolates (14•9%). Eleven of these 26 subjects (42%) had previously been treated or were presently on antibiotic treatment for acne, but the other 58% of students who had antibiotic-resistant strains of P. acnes did not give a history of prior antibiotic therapy. Teenagers expressed psychological distress over acne, and believed that hormonal factors, diet and hygiene were important factors in causing acne.” Researchers have concluded from this study that there is still a need for more education on acne and how to treat the skin condition.
So what kind of strides are being made in regards to acne? Acne vulgaris, better known simply as acne, has a variety of ways it can be treated. However many doctors and patients as well are dissatisfied with a lot of treatments available on the market today. Another study published in the September issue of BJD, was to, “evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of a novel lotion containing triethyl citrate and ethyl linoleate in the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris.” The results showed that, “forty patients were recruited into the study, of which 33 completed the study. Active treatment was statistically superior to placebo in reduction of Leeds grading and total, inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesion counts. The active lotion showed a rapid response with obvious reduction in lesion counts and acne grading by 4 weeks. Sebum production was significantly reduced in the actively treated group, with a mean reduction of 53% in sebum production compared with baseline. One patient developed irritation to the active lotion and withdrew from the study.” According to researchers the study showed that the lotion was effective against mild and moderate cases of Acne, as well as effects on both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions. According the doctors, “The new lotion worked quickly and was generally well tolerated.”
This may not mean it is a be all end all for your case or someone you know, but you should consult with your Dermatologist to see if it is right for you.

Some Myths About Acne

Over the years many myths have grown up surrounding acne and so here we will try to see if we can knock a few of the more commonly held misconceptions on the head.
The first is that diet plays a role in acne. It is certainly true that foods which encourage the production of oil within the skin can help to encourage acne, but there is no truth in the belief that eating greasy fried foods or chocolate contributes to the problem of acne. Similarly, there is no evidence to suggest that drinking too many sweet, carbonated soft drinks has an affect either. Indeed, about the only foods which have been shown to directly affect acne (worsening but not causing it) are foods which contain high levels of iodized salt.
What is certainly true is that your general health and skin condition does play a part in helping to clear acne and that one way to help to ensure that you are healthy and that your skin is in the best condition is to eat a good balanced diet which is low in fats and high in such things as fresh fruit and vegetables.
The next myth is that acne is caused by poor hygiene. Again there is no truth in this although what is true is that poor hygiene can make it far more difficult to treat acne. Acne is aggravated by blockages to the pores of the skin allowing excessive skin oil and dead skin cells to build-up and providing a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Twice daily washing with a mild soap and water will therefore help to keep the pores of the skin open preventing this build-up and helping any acne medication to get to the site of the problem. Be careful however as excessive washing can simply act to inflame the skin further and also help to spread the acne bacteria.
Another commonly held belief is that acne can be caused by stress. It is known that stress can weaken the immune system and influence the production of hormones and so it is not unreasonable to assume that it could have an affect on acne. However, there is no real evidence to support this. Moreover, for stress to have any appreciable affect on acne we would need to be talking about severe clinical cases of stress and not what most of us to consider to be stress, which is really nothing more than the normal day to day trials and tribulations of life.
One thing which is however true about acne and which most people do not believe is that over medication can help to spread acne and can cause some forms of mild acne to turn into much more serious forms of the condition.
In some cases too frequent use of over-the-counter or prescription acne medication, or using acne medication of too high a strength, can harm the skin and encourage the spread of acne or the development of more severe types of acne. As a result, medication should always be used in the lowest strength which proves effective and only as directed on the packet or advised by your physician or dermatologist.

9 Tips to Use Acne Products Safely

An acne product alone cannot make all your pimples and blackheads go away. The key to clear and flawless skin is not simply washing your face or applying an acne cream or taking a pill. You have to adopt a complete regimen that will get you through the day and decrease the chances of acne forming. Remember, even your acne product is not failsafe without adopting other behaviors to prevent acne.
1 ) Give Your Acne Product Time to Work.
Do not expect to be pimple free overnight. Every medication needs time to work. As a rule, expect the acne product you use to take approximately 6-8 weeks to work effectively.
2 ) Don’t Aggravate Your Acne
As tempting as it might be, refrain from poking, prodding, squeezing or popping your acne. This can lead to “pizza face” syndrome with skin full of scars and pock marks. In addition, this type of behavior will only aggravate your pimples causing your acne product of choice to take longer to work.
3 ) Wash Your Hands
Your hands have a habit of collecting dirt, oil, and bacteria throughout the day. Do the best you can to avoid touching your face. If you must touch an acne prone area try to wash your hands before doing so.
4 ) Wash Your Face
One of the causes of acne is the natural oil on your face blocking your pores and causing blackheads and pimples. Using an oil-free face wash with either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid twice a day will help reduce the natural oils. Do not scrub your face vigorously as this can irritate your acne and actually cause inflammation. Instead, wash gently and pat dry lightly.
5 ) Use Your Product as Directed
Before using any acne product, read the label carefully. Never use the product more than suggested as this can lead to skin burns. Conversely, never use the product less than suggested as this can prevent the product from acting effectively.
6 ) Use Oil-Free Products on Your Skin
Check the labels on all of your skin care and make-up products. Be sure they are water based and will not clog your pores. Many skin product companies will use the term “noncomedogenic”. This term means the product will not clog pores.
7 ) Do Not Make Your Acne Worse
Do not use oily hair care products as these can get transferred to your neck and face. Stay away from oil-based gels, greases, and pomades. In addition if you hair tends to be oily, wear it away from your face. If you play sports try to wear clothing that will wick moisture away from your body as sweat can make acne worse.
8 ) Eat a Healthy Diet and Drink Plenty of Water
While there is no direct link between diet and acne, eating healthy and drinking plenty of water cannot hurt your acne and, in fact, may help prevent pimples and blackheads.
9 ) Avoid Sunlight
Sunlight curing acne is a myth. All tanning does is increase your risk of skin cancer. Furthermore, the acne product you are using can make you more sensitive to sunlight and cause severe reactions to this light. This is true whether you use a tanning booth, sun lamp or direct sunlight. So stay out of the sun or wear a water based sunscreen to protect your skin.

Cystic Acne Explained

Cystic acne is a bacterial infection that usually occurs on the face and back. Cystic acne will cause swollen red pustules to be formed on the skin surfaces.
Cystic acne is also termed as modular acne and can be the most painful of all the various types of skin care conditions. Cystic acne requires a timely action once the symptom is seen. The specific cause is not identified by any medical expertise till now.
Although most dermatologist agreed one of the main causes if due to the hormonal changes especially for teenagers.
Cystic acne clogs the pores by the accumulation of dirt and oil. This accumulation helps in thriving bacteria. The worst thing in cystic acne is that it has the tendency to spread from one place to another by means of scratching or squeezing the swollen pustules.
Cystic acne is common for both males and females. But female are most likely to be affected by this as they tend to use more make ups.
Advisory measures to prevent cystic acne
“Swift action is needed before it reaches you” is a commonly said term in many fields which hold good in cystic acne. The best way to deal with cystic acne is a consultation of a dermatologist.
The treatment for cystic acne varies from one individual to other individual as it depends on the age, stages of development and the hormonal imbalance. There are also several home remedies for cystic acne that you can try at home.
The best way to prevent cystic acne is done in three steps, one followed by the other. The first step of treatment starts with a cleansing regimen which is specially recommended for cystic acne skin.
This cleansing regimen helps in keeping the fresh and healthy at all times. This cleansing regimen should be used twice a day both morning and evening. Keeping the skin clean is the best possible to get rid of cystic acne.
The second level of treatment moves on to an exfoliating cream. This exfoliating cream is used on the affected areas. This cream removes the excess of dirt and oil that is deposited on the skin. And also it prevents the excess of oil production by the sebaceous oil gland.
The third phase of treatment is that a light moisturizer cream is used. Light moisturizer helps in oxidation the skin. Oxidation helps in destroying the bacteria that causes infection.
Cystic acne can be treated with the help of an antibiotic or a laser treatment. Laser treatment removes the dead cells and it tightens the larger pores for the future.
But using a laser treatment is more expensive and painful too. So the best remedy is to keep your skin always clean, fresh and healthy.

Natural Ways for Treating Acne

Acne is quite common, not only for teenagers but for many adults as well. Acne is caused by the follicular glands on the face and other parts of your body getting irritated and rupturing by common bacteria which impacts the pore. This can lead to the everyday blackheads, whiteheads, or even severe acne which is pus filled pores that everyone tries to avoid. Severe acne can cause scarring which can be permanent if not treated properly. Certainly stress and genetics are contributors to acne; diet also plays a major role. There are certain natural approaches that can help you with acne. Because they are natural they are far less expensive then some of the major treatments that involve prescription medications, topical creams, and light and heat therapies.

Cleaning Up Your Diet – Studies have shown that natural insulin seems to help acne which suggests that high refined carb diets are a major cause of acne. That means if you stay away from fatty and high carb foods you could help to eliminate your acne. Although there is no particular cause of acne, unhealthy eating in general is a major factor in acne which has been proven through various studies on people who eat more food that they grow themselves. They rarely have acne if at all. This goes to show you that the more processed foods and fatty foods we eat the more acne we will have. So, increase your leafy greens and vegetables so that not only will you have a natural acne treatment, but you will also have a healthier body.

Take Your Vitamins – Vitamin A is the most important acne treatment you could have. Although Vitamin A is wonderful for clear skin and a healthy body, you need to take it in the right dosage because of the potential for damaging your liver. Vitamin A helps to reduce the fat or sebum that builds up in your pores. Another vitamin that is a fat-soluble vitamin for the skin is Vitamin D. Often called “liquid sunshine”, this gives you the same effect that sun exposure can give you without having to spend hours in the sun. Acne tends to be worse in the winter and although spending numerous hours out in the sun is not good for you, there is a certain healing affect to acne that the sun, or Vitamin D in this case, can give you.

Take Your Minerals – We can’t say it enough; Zinc and Sulfur are so important when it comes to the treatment of acne. Zinc works throughout your body to not only give you clearer skin but to help repair any damage you may have done to your body through unhealthy eating or dieting. Sulfur is a natural anti-microbial which helps your body fight infection and actually aids in the skin regrowth and development that can help you avoid acne and take away blemishes.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals and Scrubbing Agents – Many people think that by scrubbing their face that they can make the acne go away. In fact it is quite the opposite. You need to wash your face lightly with a warm washcloth and then splash it with cold water. Aloevera gel or cream is also nice for your face if the acne is making it feel hot or raw. You do not need a fancy face wash or soap that dries out your skin which actually causes more acne. If you want a deep cleansing you can try beating a raw egg yolk and leaving it on your skin for 15 minutes before simply rinsing off with water. If you feel like you have to have some sort of cleaner on your face you can use a gentle exfoliant which is oatmeal based to thoroughly clean without drying out.

Mengenal tipe tipe Jerawat

Komedo

Jerawat Batu (Cystic acne)

sumber: http://id.wikipedia.org

3 Penyebab Jerawat
